[Munich, Germany, May 9, 2022] Infineon Technologies AG (FSE:IFX/OTCQX:IFNNY) announced the launch of a new battery management IC product line that provides optimized solutions for battery monitoring and balancing.The new BATTERY management IC includes two models, TLE9012DQU and TLE9015DQU, to achieve higher measurement accuracy and superior application robustness, providing a competitive system-level solution for battery module, modular battery technology (CTP) and battery chassis integration technology (CTC) battery topology.The device is widely used in industrial, consumer, and automotive applications such as mild hybrid electric vehicle (MHEV), hybrid electric vehicle (HEV), plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), and pure electric vehicle (BEV), as well as energy storage systems, battery management systems for two - and three-wheel electric vehicles.

The new battery management IC can be used in safety-related applications to enable automotive battery management system (BMS) solutions to meet the requirements of asil-d, the highest level of automotive functional safety, and comply with the ISO26262 standard.In addition, these optimized products can be used with the AURIX family of microcontrollers and power management ics that support functional safety through complex Device Drivers (CDD).This provides a complete solution for voltage and temperature sensing, equalization, and communication for a variety of battery solutions.
TLE9012DQU is a multi-channel battery monitoring and equalization system chip that uses Infineon's advanced technology to make highly accurate voltage measurements in order to estimate battery charge state (SoC) and battery health (SoH), which are key requirements that all battery management systems must meet.In addition, the device is designed for use in lithium-ion battery packs and is a monitoring and equalization system chip with asIL-D certification, the highest level of automotive functional safety.It can be directly controlled by the microcontroller through the UART interface or the isolated UART interface of the new TLE9015DQU iso-uart transceiver IC.
The TLE9012DQU design is based on a parallel ADC architecture, with the help of 16-bit DS ADC technology to achieve high accuracy, excellent noise suppression through computating high-density sampling on the chip, and synchronous sampling of the entire battery pack in less than 10 microseconds.In addition, it can reduce or even get rid of the dependence on external components while ensuring full life cycle accuracy.
TLE9015DQU is a battery monitoring transceiver chip, which is used to connect multiple TLE9012AQU in lithium battery with Daisy chain structure.With two pairs of UART and ISO UART interfaces, it can support circular communication, reduce costs and improve system efficiency.The module also enables bidirectional information flow by integrating the fault management unit, which includes multiple programmable inputs and outputs on each TLE9012DQU chip.

Both TLE9012DQU and TLE9015DQU have been released and are available for production design.
