Brunschhoven, Switzerland, May 12, 2022 -- Swissbit has expanded the company's product line of industrial-grade SD and microSD memory cards. The all-new S-55 and S-58 series feature "high reliability" and state-of-the-art technology, making them the first choice for demanding applications.Swissbit combines leading industrial grade 3D TLC NAND technology with powerful controllers and firmware to achieve extremely high reliability. The SD and microSD cards range in capacity from 16 GB to 512 GB and support a wide temperature range of -40℃ to +85℃.The new S-55 and S-58 series use Meguiar's flash memory chips, while Swissbit's existing S-50 and S-56 series use Kaixia's 3D NAND.This gives Swissbit's customers the flexibility to choose the best product for their specific requirements and application.

The new S-55 and S-58 series SDHC/SDXC memory cards meet all requirements for data recording, IPC, HMI devices, POS/POI terminals and medical and monitoring applications. For example, all memory cards in the range are designed for temperatures ranging from -40 ° C to +85 ° C and are protected from temperature fluctuations between read and write operations within this temperature range. This reduces maintenance intervals and reduces total cost of ownership (TCO).

120-bit LDPC error correction, whole page error protection, read interference management, background data refresh, data recovery after sudden power failure and intelligent static and dynamic wear balancing all ensure the product has the best reliability.Molded SiP housings with gold contacts are also an important part of reliability, providing optimal protection even in harsh environments against high mechanical stress and environmental impact on the product.

Capacity and Compatibility

The new series of memory cards comply with SD-6.1 standards, and support common SPI interface mode and UHS-I interface mode commonly used in embedded systems. They achieve UHS speed rating U3, SPEED rating C10, Application rating A2, and video speed rating V30.

The S-55 has a capacity range of 64 GB to 512 GB, with microSD versions of the S-55U available from 64 GB to 256 GB.

Of course, Swissbit will continue to offer the S-58 series in 3D pSLC mode, which is particularly suited for applications that require large amounts of writing to small chunks of data or consistently high workloads. In addition to the S-58's 16 GB to 128 GB capacity and the S-58U's 16 GB to 64 GB capacity, the pSLC version offers up to 10 times the service life and up to 2 times the speed.

Long-term availability and NAND architecture choices

With the launch of the S-55 and S-58 series, Swissbit remains committed to providing extremely high quality memory cards at competitive prices while ensuring long-term availability. Now, the NAND flash of Swissbit SD memory card products comes from two strategic partners, Kaixia and Micron, which will further improve the long-term availability of the product. In addition to the new product line based on Meguiar 3D NAND, Swissbit will continue to offer s-50 and S-56 memory cards equipped with Kaihwa flash memory chips. While the performance specifications and reliability of the two series are nearly identical, the S-50/S-56 series can offer a minimum capacity of 4 GB.At the same time, this strategic change will enable the company to ensure on-time delivery capabilities, enabling customers to fully respond to short-term market fluctuations.

With its extensive line of 'high reliability' SD and microSD memory cards, Swissbit offers customers the most options and security in product planning, as well as the perfect opportunity to switch from traditional NAND technologies such as 2D MLC and SLC to the latest 3D TLC.
